The garden is in!

After saying I was going to plant a garden for a few years I finally did it! My dad helped me out by tilling up the grass and fortifying my beds. He taught me how to use an air gun, but they needed the good old hammer 'n nails to secure them. This 2-day project turned into a 2-week project thanks to our rainy weather here in the northwest. My poor plants were looking limp in their tiny pots but are much happier now that they have beds to grow in! Next year I think I'll add more beds. I planted so much I ran out of room for my cucumbers, but they died anyway. :( I think the carrots are my favorite, as they are rainbow colored. I'll take some photos as soon as they grow!

Enter the baby

First knitting project ever is complete! The pattern was super easy to follow for the first time, just remember to count because I did not. I couldn't figure what the problem was until I realized I was 2 stitches short. Duh. The yarn was Vanna's choice in Goldfish, I think. Easy to work with this blanket is think and will be great if I ever actually get it in the mail! Now with my new found skills there will be blankets for all.

First skirt!

Combination of my two favorite loves: Jana and sewing. End result; the Jana skirt. Check out the gnomes. Another fave.
The fabric came from last year's outdoor sale thanks to Fabric Depot. The picture on the front of the pattern was very 1990's house marm, second cousin to the "mom jeans" era. Eew. Add some pillow trim and mod the pattern and voila! The perfect skirt. The final was a second try actually, as the first end result was a little too big and I looked like a blond Delta Burke on "Designing Women". Another eew from the 90's. Sorry Mom.
